The Associated Students, Inc (ASI) is a 501(c)3 not for profit corporation which serves as an auxiliary of the California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) with approximately 15,000 students. CSUDH is one of 23 campuses in the California State University system. The campus is an urban, comprehensive public university serving the extended South Bay area of the Los Angeles basin. As the student government organization, the ASI represents the concerns of the students. Through their membership representation on various University committees and groups, the ASI has a substantial influence on many important decisions. The ASI also provides programs and services to the student body.
Position Description
The Program Assistant for Social Media is responsible for developing and executing strategic social media concepts to improve and increase Associated Students, Inc.’s student interaction and department visibility.
Skills and Requirements:
· Willingness to work with an ethnically diverse and culturally pluralistic student body and staff
· Willingness to be enthusiastic and provide assertive customer service
· Proven interpersonal communication and organization skills
· Knowledge of social, cultural and educational program planning
· Basic computer knowledge a must
· General knowledge of the campus is very helpful
· CPR and/or First Aid certification preferred, but not required
· Typing and/or word processing skills
· Basic knowledge of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.)
· Basic knowledge in editing, customizing and uploading images to social media platforms
· Knowledge of changing image extensions (PNG to JPG, TIFF to BMP, etc.)
· General knowledge of current technology (smart phones, tablets, smart TVs, etc.)
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assists in the developing, planning, executing and evaluating events (including, but not limited to; facility and equipment reservations, staffing, promotion, sign up) for Associated Students, Inc. and the campus community
· Provides assertive customer service to the University community
· Keeps informed about the daily activities and events of ASI and the University
· Assists in facility maintenance
· Assists in ordering of supplies and equipment and insuring proper storage, maintenance and upkeep
· Assists with ensuring all participants complete the appropriate informed consent form or liability waiver for all programs
· Create engaging social media contests to increase ASI’s interaction and awareness
· Inform students of upcoming events by posting flyers, videos and text on all social media platforms daily
· Upload and share content related to ASI and other CSUDH departments to increase interdepartmental awareness
· Provide customer service in the form of answering questions posted on social media
· Performs other duties as assigned
Conditions of Employment
Responsible to the ASI Marketing & Public Relations Coordinator
Rate: $16.78/hr
Workweek Class: Non-Exempt
Classification: Student Employee Level II
Work Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week, contingent upon operation need, academic scheduling, etc.
This position is employed by the Associated Students, Inc. and is subject to related personnel policies and procedures. This position serves at will and does not receive tenure or permanency.
