The Associated Students, Inc (ASI) is a 501(c)3 not for profit corporation which serves as an auxiliary of the California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH) with approximately 13,000 students. CSUDH is one of 23 campuses in the California State University system. The campus is an urban, comprehensive public university serving the extended South Bay area of the Los Angeles basin. As the student government organization, the ASI represents the concerns of the students. Through their membership representation on various University committees and groups, the ASI has a substantial influence on many important decisions. The ASI also provides programs and services to the student body.

Position Description

The Technology Assistant assists in the day-to-day coordination of the Associated Students, Inc.
Technology support and performs administrative tasks of a responsible nature in support of the purchase, acquisition, inventory and accounting of related equipment and services.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Full-time student currently enrolled at CSUDH
  • Technology and website design preferred

Skills and Requirements:

  • Willingness to work with an ethnically diverse and culturally pluralistic student body and staff
  • Willingness to be enthusiastic and provide assertive customer service
  • Willingness to enroll in campus IT intern program
  • Proven interpersonal communication and organization skills
  • Understanding of basic PC software and hardware to troubleshoot for organizational needs
  • Experience in working with computer word processing and data entry preferred
  • Typing and/or word processing skills preferred
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work independently and responsibly ensuring that an accurate audit trail of all documentation exists

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides assertive customer service to ASI staff and the University community
  • Provides information about ASI’s Asset Management Program to the campus community
  • Provides inventory and accounting of technology related purchases.
  • Processes standard IT and telecommunication requests independently, or refers more complex requests to an ASI staff member, based on knowledge of corporation policies and procedures.
  • Assists with files and distribution of general correspondence related to the ASI technology acquisition.
  • Assists with inventory and maintenance of ASI technology and office equipment.
  • Assists in the preparation of payment related documentation of the Corporation, as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Required to walk, sit, stand, reach with hands and arms; balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch; Frequent use of hands for data entry/keystrokes and simple grasping
  • Ability to lift and carry 40lbs.

Conditions of Employment

Responsible to the ASI Finance and Business Services Manager Rate: $18.21/hr

Workweek Class: Non-Exempt

Classification: Student Employee Level II

Work Schedule: 20 hours per week

This position is employed by the Associated Students, Inc. and is subject to related personnel policies and procedures. This position serves at will and does not receive tenure or permanency.
